I’m so delighted with today’s snack that I can’t even describe it. I made hot sandwiches with saury for the first time. I spied the recipe in my mother’s old notes in the “Advice for Stingy People” fields.

How crispy, tasty and filling they turned out to be – these “mom’s” sandwiches. Thin slices of loaf stuffed with saury filling under a cheese cap, in the oven - mmm, how yummy.

To make sandwiches you need canned saury with added butter or natural one, like ours. Milk, mustard, sliced loaf or baguette. A small onion and a boiled egg. Salt, mayonnaise, fresh dill or parsley - to taste.

Saira (canned) – 1 can

Onion – 1 head

Chicken egg – 1 pc.

Loaf (milk) – 1 bun

Cheese (milk) – for sprinkling

Mayonnaise – 1.5 tbsp.

Salt - to taste

Fresh herbs - to taste

1. The loaf is cut into thin slices of equal width.

2. Canned food must be refrigerated. After which the jar is opened, most of the liquid is drained, and the saury itself is placed in a bowl.

3. The fish is kneaded with a fork into minced meat.

4. Onions are cut into small cubes and added to the saury.

5. Canned food is mashed together with onions.

6. Chop the chicken egg into cubes and add to the fish filling.

7. The eggs are mixed with the filling. Mayonnaise is added to taste.

8. Chopped fresh herbs.

9. All ingredients are mixed into a homogeneous mass. You can add a little salt to taste.

10. Each slice of loaf is generously “smeared” with minced saury.

11. Grate the cheese on a fine grater.

12. Spread in a thin layer on top of the filling. The sandwiches are placed on a clean baking sheet and then in the oven for 10 minutes.

13. The cheese should melt, and the loaf slices should dry out and lightly brown on the bottom.

14. Ready-made hot sandwiches with saury are decorated with herbs and served immediately.

15. It’s impossible to resist trying. One bite and the sandwich dissolved in your mouth. Enjoy your snack!
