I noticed that many people are prejudiced against shawarma, considering it quite harmful fast food, made from not always fresh meat.
I’ll say right away that I myself am not one of those people and I love shawarma. However, if you doubt the benefits and quality of store-bought shawarma, you can always prepare it yourself using this recipe. Preparing homemade shawarma will not take you much time, and the final product will be low-calorie and very tasty! Bon appetit!
Ингредиенты
Thin lavash – 2 sheets
Chicken breast fillet – 250 g
Cucumber – 1 pc.
Tomato – 1 pc.
Chinese cabbage – 30 g
Greek yogurt – 200 ml
Dijon mustard – 2 tsp.
Garlic – 2 cloves
Ground sweet paprika – 1 tsp.
Granulated garlic – 2 tsp.
Freshly ground pepper
Рецепт
1. Spread foil on the work surface and place washed and dried chicken breast fillet on it. Add 1 tsp. sweet paprika, 2 tsp. granulated garlic, salt and freshly ground pepper. Rub the fillet with spices on all sides, then wrap it in foil.
Place the chicken fillet in foil in the oven, preheated to 180 degrees, for 40 minutes. Then remove and let cool.
2. Prepare the sauce. To do this, place 200 ml of unflavored Greek yogurt in a deep bowl. Add 2 tsp. Dijon mild mustard. Pass two cloves of garlic through a garlic press. Add salt to taste. Mix the contents of the bowl and put the sauce in the refrigerator to let it brew a little.
3. At this time we will cut the vegetables and baked chicken breast. Let's start with the cucumber. It must be cut into oblong halves of circles. Chop the tomato in the same way. Remove 2-3 leaves from Chinese cabbage. We cut through the part of the sheets where the thick stem is located with a knife, dividing it into 2 halves. And then finely chop the cabbage. Divide the cooled chicken breast into 2 parts. Then cut each part into small pieces.
4. Let's start assembling the shawarma. To do this, place a sheet of pita bread on the work surface. Place chopped Chinese cabbage along the edge of the pita bread. Place tomatoes on it. And cucumbers. Place half of the chicken on top of the vegetables.
Then pour plenty of sauce over everything to make the shawarma as juicy and tasty as possible!
After this, we bend the edges of the pita bread so that nothing falls out from the ends, and wrap the pita bread into a roll, carefully holding the filling.
5. Place the shawarma in a dry, heated frying pan for 1 minute, seam side down, until it sets and turns golden. After a minute, turn it over and fry for another 1 minute on the other side.
6. At the very end of cooking, cut the shawarma at an angle into 2 parts. And we serve it to the table.
Bon appetit!
