One of the most common dessert recipes for the New Year in the Middle Kingdom is Niangao - cookies or cake made from ground rice. Traditionally, it is believed that the pie is the personification of prosperity and wealth in the home.

It looks somewhat like rice pudding. But Niangao not only can be sweet, but in some regions of the country it is also prepared with pork, zucchini or scallop. The treat is also served in different shapes: in the form of a cylinder or cube; in addition to the difference in shape, the pie is also prepared in different ways: steamed or fried in oil.

Rice flour - 120 g;

Sugar (cane) - 50 g;

Dried fruits - 50 g;

Milk - 2 tbsp;

Drinking water - 70 g;

Egg - 1 pc.

1. As dried fruits you can use dried apricots, raisins from different varieties of grapes, prunes, dried apples, banana, pineapple. Grind dried fruits in a blender or finely chop with a knife.

2. Before preparing the pie, you will need sugar syrup: boil water, add sugar, cook, stirring constantly, until the particles dissolve, then turn off and let cool.

3. The syrup should not be thick, like thick kefir. Add an egg, flour sifted through a sieve, chopped dried fruits and combine everything until smooth. The ingredients are added in stages to avoid the formation of lumps.

4. Prepare a baking dish, grease it with butter or vegetable oil, place the prepared dough.

5. Preparing the pie takes about 45 minutes at 180 degrees.

6. After baking, you can check the cake with a skewer so that it is not raw inside. Serve it by cutting it into portions on a platter.
