A cocktail based on blue Curacao liqueur, rum and freshly squeezed grapefruit juice.
Blue Curacao liqueur comes from the Caribbean islands, or more precisely, from the island of the same name, Curacao. In the Curacao liqueur family, there are orange, green, colorless and blue varieties. Of course, blue is the most spectacular; depending on the ingredients added to cocktails with this liqueur, the color of the drink can range from blue to greenish. It tastes sweet, the consistency is thick, almost like syrup, and its aroma has notes of citrus, cinnamon and cloves.
There are a lot of cocktails based on Blue Curacao; I suggest trying the Blue Canary alcoholic cocktail. It is made in a matter of minutes, does not require special bartending equipment, the drink is prepared in a glass, from which the finished cocktail is consumed.
You just need to stock up on enough ice, juicy grapefruits, rum and blue Curacao. The original recipe uses gin instead of rum, but substituting gin for rum is acceptable.
Depending on the size and juiciness, you may need 1-3 grapefruits. I had large juicy fruits and I got 240 ml of juice from one and a half grapefruits. The strength of the drink can be adjusted by adding more or less juice, respectively, the taste will be either more tart or sweeter.
This amount of ingredients makes 3 servings of cocktail.
Ингредиенты
Rum (light) - 30 ml
Blue Curacao liqueur - 30 ml
Grapefruit juice - 240 ml
Ice - to taste
Рецепт
1. Before squeezing the juice from grapefruits, remove a little zest to decorate the cocktail, and then cut the fruits in half. Squeeze and then strain the juice.
2. Now that the preparations are complete, you can pour the cocktail into glasses. Fill the glasses with ice almost to the top and pour light rum, 10 ml for each glass.
3. Next, pour 10 ml of blue Curacao into each glass.
4. Add 80 ml of grapefruit juice to each glass.
5. The cocktail can be stirred to try the whole palette of flavors. Or you can leave it as is. The thick Curacao will sink to the bottom and first we will feel the bitter juice, then the strength of the rum, and at the end, as a bonus, the sweet liqueur. Garnish the drink with zest and a sprig of mint and serve immediately.
6. Alcoholic cocktail “Blue Canary” is ready for tasting!
