Spicy tomato snack for the winter

This dish has been pleasing and warming us on winter evenings for many years.

A juicy vegetable appetizer with a spicy note of hot pepper, good with bread and hot soup. I also use it as a sauce for pasta. We usually call it adjika, simply because we call everything spicy and red adjika. In fact, this is a tomato appetizer, the ingredient of which is also hot red pepper, making the dish taste very similar to Georgian seasoning.

Ингредиенты

Tomatoes – 1.5 kg

Onion – 250 g

Carrots – 250 g

Sweet pepper – 250 g

Garlic – 100 g

Hot pepper – 4-5 pods

Vegetable oil – 200 g

Sugar – 50 g

Salt – 1 tsp.

Рецепт

1. Wash the tomatoes and cut each into several parts.

2. Cut the carrots into large pieces.

3. Cut the onion into 4 parts.

4. Cut the pepper as desired.

5. Remove the seeds from the hot pepper pods and also cut the vegetable.

6. Scroll all the ingredients through a meat grinder into a convenient bowl. Then we transfer everything into a large basin for cooking the snack. Pour in vegetable oil, add salt and sugar. Stir and place on low heat.

7. Stirring occasionally, cook for 2.5-3 hours.

8. With every minute the liquid in the mass will become less, the snack will thicken.

9. At the end of cooking, the mass should hold its shape and not spread along the bottom of the basin.

10. Place the snack in pasteurized jars, close the lids, cool and store in the refrigerator until winter.
