I was taught to cook this kind of pie in Libya.

I highly recommend trying to bake it. The simplest recipe and a lot of pleasant minutes later. This Arabic pie uses flaky yeast dough. I already have it ready-made, bought in the market. I tell you how the filling is prepared, and what exactly makes this pizza pie especially delicious. In a frying pan you need to simmer the minced meat with finely chopped onion and tomato. Salt and pepper to taste. In total, I used 5 medium-sized tomatoes in the recipe. For minced meat, take one.

Yeast puff pastry - 300 g;

Minced beef - 200 g;

Bell pepper - 8 pcs;

Tomato - 250 g;

Hard cheese - 200 g;

Ground sweet paprika - 1 tsp;

Onion - 1 piece;

Black pepper (ground) - 1/3 tsp;

Basil - 0.5 bunch;

Vegetable oil - 1 tbsp. l.;

1. Blend the remaining tomatoes in a blender with the addition of sweet ground paprika. To make the sauce more delicate, pour boiling water over the tomatoes and remove the skins.

2. Pour the tomato mixture into a frying pan (+ 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil), you need to evaporate all the liquid from it. If desired, you can add finely chopped garlic and your favorite spices. I didn't add anything except a pinch of salt. I wanted a natural tomato taste.

3. Roll out the puff pastry dough to a thickness of 0.5 cm and place on a baking sheet. Spread with tomato sauce.

4. Bell peppers should be small in size, with thick skin and bright red in color. It needs to be cut in half, cleaned of seeds, filled with minced meat and placed in a checkerboard pattern on the dough with the minced meat facing up. Sprinkle the free spaces near the peppers with grated cheese. Sprinkle thyme on top.

5. Bake the pizza pie for 20 minutes in the oven. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.

6. Important point. While the pie is still hot, the minced peppers need to be turned over, showing the beautiful gloss of the peppers. The pepper will be smooth, not wrinkled, in oil lubrication. Garnish with basil leaves.

7. This pizza pie is served by cutting it into quadrangles. Then you need to wrap the free part over the pepper and you will get an “envelope”. You can bite. :) Bon appetit.
