White mulled wine with orange juice

Since classic mulled wine is prepared on the basis of red wine, it is customary to call mulled wine based on white wine (or in the non-alcoholic version, grape juice) “white”.
And since the color of wine itself ranges from golden to amber (depending on the grape variety), it is customary to add light shades to it, be it fruits, dried fruits and juices.
On the eve of the New Year 2022, the year of the Tiger according to the eastern calendar, I propose not only to make our mulled wine sunny and bright by adding orange juice, but also to go a little further and give it a “tiger color” when serving as a tribute to the symbol of the next year! Making this New Year's decor takes 2-3 minutes, and all you need from scrap materials is a marker.
Ингредиенты
Dry white wine (or grape juice) - 0.75-1 l
Orange juice - 250-750 ml (to taste)
Orange - 1 pc. (180 g)
Ginger root - 20 g
Cinnamon - 1 stick
Vanilla sugar - 10 g
Star anise - 2 stars
Cloves - 5 pcs.
Sugar/honey - to taste
Рецепт
1. Wash the orange, dry it and cut it into thin slices. Peel the ginger root and cut into as thin slices as possible (this way the ginger will release all the juice, but the pieces will be noticeable and will be easy to remove from the finished mulled wine). Place the chopped ginger and orange in a saucepan.
2. Break the cinnamon stick into several small pieces. Add the cinnamon pieces, vanilla, cloves and star anise to the pan.
3. Pour in orange juice. If you don't want to dilute the wine too much by reducing its strength, add 250 ml of juice, just enough to cover the spices and fruit. And if you are preparing a non-alcoholic or low-alcohol version of mulled wine, then orange juice can be added to taste (up to 1 liter). At this stage I add 500 ml of juice, and a little more to the finished mulled wine - approximately 200-250 ml (to taste). Bring the orange juice and spices to a boil over low heat. Then reduce the heat to low and simmer the mixture for 5-7 minutes. Alternatively, turn off the heat when the juice begins to boil and simply leave the spices to steep, covered, for 15 minutes.
4. Pour in white wine (or grape juice). Over medium or slightly below medium heat, heat the mixture for a few more minutes until hot. As soon as you see the first small bubbles rising to the surface of the drink, turn off the heat without allowing it to boil.
5. Cover the pan with a lid and allow the drink to steep for at least 15-20 minutes before serving.
6. Add honey or sugar to taste to a warm, infused drink. Before serving, the drink can be reheated or served warm.
7. While the drink is infusing, you can start decorating the jug, bottle and (or) glasses for serving the drink. To do this, simply draw black stripes of arbitrary length and shape on the containers. No special paints for glass are needed. I used a simple black marker from the nearest supermarket for drawing. Despite the inscription "permanent and waterproof", it was washed off the glass with a regular sponge and detergent, without effort. If the glasses are very valuable, then just in case, you can first try to draw and wash off the marker from a small area of the glass. Strain the infused drink, pour into a serving jug, pour into glasses and serve.
8. White mulled wine (yellow) is ready! Happy Holidays and Happy New Year
