An appetizer of lightly salted herring for the holiday is just right!

There are many recipes, but I have a proven and very correct recipe for making lightly salted herring - inside and out, as they say. According to this recipe, the herring turns out just like the plastic jars you get in the store – gorgeous, flaccid and moderately salted.

From the products you need to take: fresh frozen herring, bay leaves, coriander peas, salt, pepper, onions, sunflower or olive oil and water for washing the carcasses.

Ингредиенты

Fresh frozen herring - 2 carcasses

Salt - 1-1.5 tbsp.

Pepper - to taste

Coriander - 5 g

Bay leaf - to taste

Onions - 1 pc.

Sunflower oil - to taste

Water - for rinsing

1. The herring is defrosted naturally and prepared in cutting. We will lightly salt the fillet.

2. The heads and tails of fish are cut off, and their bellies are ripped open. The entrails are removed, and the middle of the abdomen is washed from the “blackness” with cold water. Then an incision is made along the upper fin. The carcasses are divided into two halves. In this case, the skin is removed and the fillet is separated from the bones.

3. Herring layers are ready for salting.

4. They are stacked on top of each other in a tray. Each layer of fillet is sprinkled with salt, complemented with coriander and pepper, as well as bay leaf.

5. On top of the spicy fillet there will be a generous layer of onions, chopped into half rings.

6. Then comes aromatic sunflower or olive oil (whichever you like). The tray is closed and placed in the refrigerator for a day.

7. Herring salted in this immediately “ready” way turns out delicious.

8. The finished layers are formed into pieces and laid out on a serving dish.

9. Decorate the festive herring with a rose with lime, herbs and cranberries or currants. Guests will certainly like the serving, and the lightly salted herring will be to their taste.
