We don’t have to rack our brains for a long time about how to prepare pike soup, because this dish is prepared quickly and simply, much faster than, for example, fish soup or pike in foil. However, if we have a fairly large fish, then these recipes can be combined, for example, to prepare fish soup from the head of a pike, and bake the carcass in the oven or cook a body from it.

Today my pike is not very big, so I use all of it for fish soup. As a result, I will end up with a rich soup. Fans of fish first courses have probably often observed that often the next day, fish soup stored in the refrigerator becomes jelly-like, reminiscent of jellied meat. This means that the broth was quite rich and rich. In addition to potatoes, millet or pearl barley is often placed in pike fish soup. Barley takes a long time to cook, so I won’t use it.

Pike - 500 g

Potatoes - 4 pcs.

Carrots - 2 pcs.

Millet - 1 tbsp.

Bay leaf - 1 pc.

Seasoning for fish - 0.5 tsp.

Dry parsley - 0.5 tsp.

Pepper - to taste

Salt - to taste

Greens - to taste

Water - 1.5 liters

Onion - 1 pc.

1. Peel the carrots and cut them into circles or cubes

2. Also cut the potatoes into cubes.

3. Place everything in a pan with water.

4. Add washed millet.

5. Coarsely chop the onion and add it to the pan along with dry parsley. Let's start cooking. The fish cooks quite quickly, so we will add it last, after the potatoes and carrots are already cooked. Immediately add salt to the soup.

6. While the potatoes are cooking, let's start with the fish. I cleaned it in advance and gutted it in advance. Now I'll cut it into pieces.

7. Let's process the pike's head: remove the gills and eyes from it.

8. After 20 minutes, the potatoes will be ready, add chopped pieces of fish, bay leaf, and fish seasoning to the fish soup. Cook for another 15 minutes until the pike is ready.

9. Pike soup is ready. Let's add fresh herbs and we're ready to eat. It turned out to be a great ear! Where's my big spoon?
