Homemade cranberry tincture with honey and mint

Preparing such a drink is quite simple, but you need to be patient, because cranberry tincture requires long aging along with the alcohol component and natural additives.
This is when we get the rich taste and aroma. We use natural honey as a sweetener, and add mint leaves for an additional note.

Fresh cranberries - 500 g
Vodka - 1 l
Water - 500 ml
Honey - 800 g
Fresh mint - 1-2 sprigs

1. Prepare cranberries, mint and vodka. (Use fresh cranberries when they are in season, but if you are making the drink in the winter or spring, frozen berries are fine.)
2. Place cranberries in a colander along with mint leaves and rinse under running water. Let the water drain.
3. Place cranberries and mint in a 3 liter glass jar. Using a wooden mortar, mash the berries and leaves into a paste.
4. Pour vodka over the berry puree.
5. Close the jar with a tight nylon lid and place in a dark place for 2 weeks.
6. After the specified time, mix honey and water in a saucepan, put on fire, bring to a boil. Cook for 2-3 minutes over low heat. Then cool the honey syrup to room temperature.
7. Add honey syrup to the jar with cranberries and vodka. Cover the neck of the jar and gently shake the contents.
Close the jar with a lid again and place in a warm place for another 2 weeks.
8. As time passed, the drink in the can became darker and more homogeneous - it’s time to strain the tincture.
9. Place the contents of the jar in a fine sieve and separate the cranberry mass from the liquid.
10. The tincture turned out cloudy due to the pulp of the berries. To make the tincture transparent, strain it through a cotton-gauze filter. To do this, place cotton wool on half a piece of gauze, cover with the other half of the gauze and fold the entire structure in half - you get two layers of cotton wool and four layers of gauze. If you use only gauze, then it must be folded 8-16 times.
11. From the specified amount of ingredients, 2 liters of tincture were obtained. Pour it into bottles, close the lids tightly and store in a basement or other dry, dark place.
12. The cranberry liqueur turned out to be moderately sweet, about 20 degrees in strength, with a light aroma of mint and a pleasant bitterness of cranberries.
13. In winter, this cranberry tincture with honey and mint will be very useful for evening gatherings.
