Meatballs with rice and vegetables in tomato sauce

Meatballs differ from cutlets in that the former are made with the addition of cereals and vegetables.

Meatballs made from minced meat or fish (less often vegetable) are formed into balls and breaded in flour, not breadcrumbs, then fried on both sides until golden brown. Usually, after this, the meatballs are poured with sauce (usually tomato) and simmered for several minutes, but sometimes the sauce is served separately. I offer you a recipe for making meatballs with rice and vegetables in tomato and sour cream sauce.

Ингредиенты

Minced meat (pork + beef) - 0.5 kg

Parboiled long-grain rice - 0.5 cups

Onions - 2 pcs.

Carrots - 1 pc.

Egg - 1 pc.

Vegetable oil

Ground black pepper

For the sauce:

Tomato paste - 5 tbsp. l.

Sour cream - 3 tbsp. l.

Water - 2 glasses

1. Rice (I use long grain), pour into a saucepan, fill with cold water and put on fire.

2. Stirring occasionally, cook until half cooked - 10-15 minutes.

3. Finely chop the peeled onion.

4. Grate the carrots on a fine grater.

5. Place the onion in a frying pan in heated oil.

6. Sauté until golden brown.

7. Add finely grated carrots to the onions.

8. Mix thoroughly and fry over high heat for 5-10 minutes.

9. Transfer the minced meat into a large bowl and break the egg into it.

10. Add half-cooked rice and onion-carrot frying.

11. Add salt, black pepper and mix the minced meat thoroughly with your hands. The longer we mix the minced meat, the tastier the meatballs will be.

12. Pour flour into a clean, dry bowl.

13. Form small balls in your palms.

14. Dip the meatballs and rice in flour on all sides.

15. Place the meatballs in a frying pan, in preheated oil and fry over high heat until golden brown.

16. Then turn over and fry the meatballs on the other side.

17. Place all the meatballs in a clean frying pan.

18. Make the sauce: sour cream, tomato paste, salt and water.

19. Stir.

20. Pour this sauce over the meatballs.

21. Simmer the meatballs with rice in tomato sauce over medium heat, covered, for about 20 minutes.

22. Serve meatballs with rice in tomato sauce with any side dish.
