Adorable saltine crackers with a hint of tomato flavor! Unusual and cute!
The set of products for making lean tomato crackers is small and simple. I used medium grind salt so that the salt crystals were visible. Herbes de Provence can be replaced with dried basil. But it seems to me that it is the Provençal herbs that “play” best in this combination! I did not add the ground black pepper recommended in the original recipe. You can add, if there is a need for a hotter variation of crackers.
The finished cookies sold like hot cakes! I didn't even expect it! I haven't tried it myself...

Wheat flour - 180 g
Vegetable oil - 30 ml
Tomato paste - 70 g
Provençal herbs - 1 tsp.
Salt - 2 tsp.
Water - 2-3 tbsp.
Baking powder - 1 tsp. with a slide

1. Put 0.25 tsp into the sifted flour. salts and Provençal herbs, baking powder. The original recipe did not use baking powder, I added it myself because... Without it, in my opinion, the crackers will turn out to be non-crispy shortcakes. Maybe I'm wrong...
2. Stir, add vegetable oil and tomato paste. Grind into crumbs.
3. Adding water in parts, knead a homogeneous dough, wrap in film and place in the refrigerator for 15-30 minutes.
4. Roll out the dough into a layer about 2 mm thick. I did this directly on a sheet of parchment paper.
5. Cut the dough randomly into pieces or squeeze out shapes with molds. Sprinkle lightly with salt.
6. Place in the oven, preheated to 180 degrees, for 15-20 minutes until clearly browned.
7. Remove the finished tomato crackers from the sheet and cool.
