Another option for preparing aromatic onion-carrot wheat porridge.
I am not a big fan of cereals and all kinds of cereals, but if I have to choose, then wheat porridge is the most delicious for me, although perhaps it is not as healthy as, for example, oatmeal.
In addition to “just boil”, there is another option - prepare wheat porridge with carrots and onions. It turns out very tasty, perfect for a side dish.
There are several varieties of wheat cereal, from the finest grind to coarse (bulgur). For this porridge, I took medium-ground cereal, it is yellowish in color, not brown, as it was once on sale everywhere, and even now still exists - Artek cereal.
And we will need the simplest ingredients.

Wheat cereal - 130 g
Vegetable oil - 40 ml
Carrots - 1 pc.
Onions - 0.5-1 pcs.
Salt - to taste
Spices - to taste

1. Grate the carrots and chop the onion into smaller pieces.
2. Rinse wheat grains several times in cold water.
3. It is convenient to cook such porridge in a cauldron or in a non-stick pan. Heat the cauldron well over the fire and add vegetable oil. It is also good to heat the oil and fry the onions until an acceptable color.
4. Then add carrots. Fry everything together for a couple of minutes while stirring.
5. Some people like a more fried version, but this one suits me.
6. Add washed wheat cereal.
7. Fill it with water at the rate of one part of cereal - two and a half parts of water. That is, for 130 grams of cereal I needed 350 ml of water. I added a glass of water immediately and then a little less than half more. Be sure to add salt. Bring to a boil and cook with the lid open until the water has almost completely evaporated. The fire is small. Don't forget to stir the porridge so that it doesn't stick to the bottom. When there is a little water left, reduce the heat further, cover the porridge with a lid and let it cook until fully cooked.
8. The consistency of wheat porridge is viscous, but it thickens very quickly after turning off the heat.
9. And when the wheat porridge with carrots and onions is laid out on plates, it takes on a completely crumbly appearance. Enjoy!
