Today I’m preparing a simple, tasty and satisfying American dish based on rice - jambalaya.

This is a Louisiana Creole dish. There are a huge number of recipes for making jambalaya, as well as our borscht. The dish is democratic; it is allowed to replace some ingredients with others. Rice and tomatoes remain the constant ingredients of jambalaya. If you love simple recipes like this for lunch or dinner, then this recipe is for you!

Ингредиенты

Sausages (preferably smoked or smoked) - 400 g

Rice - 350 g

Onions - 1 pc.

Bell pepper - 200 g

Tomatoes - 300 g

Garlic - 2 cloves

Tomato paste - 1 tbsp. spoon

Vegetable oil - 60 ml

Fresh parsley - 1 bunch

Salt - to taste

Ground black pepper - to taste

1. Prepare the necessary ingredients.

2. Make cross-shaped cuts on the tomatoes. Pour boiling water over the tomatoes and set aside while we work on other vegetables.

3. Cut the peeled onion into small cubes. Finely chop the peeled garlic with a knife.

4. Remove the stalks and seeds from the sweet bell pepper and cut into small pieces.

5. Peel the tomatoes and cut them into cubes.

6. Peel the sausages from the packaging film and cut into circles.

7. Fry the sausages in vegetable oil. Let's set it aside for now.

8. In the container in which we will cook the jambalaya (a deep frying pan or saucepan will do), heat the vegetable oil. Fry the onion until transparent.

9. Add sweet pepper to the onion and lightly fry.

10. Add tomatoes, garlic and tomato paste. Salt and pepper.

11. Add sausages and rice there. Stir and add hot water. The water should be approximately 1.5-2 cm higher than the contents of the frying pan or saucepan.

Reduce heat, cover with a lid and simmer until the rice is cooked.

12. Sprinkle the finished dish with chopped parsley.
