If you do not have the opportunity to buy almond flour for any baking, then you can easily make it at home from almonds.
In general, I really love any nuts, but almonds are perhaps my favorite! I even heard that it is especially useful for women. And sweet pastries with almonds or almond flour acquire their own exquisite taste! But if you are not a confectioner, then you hardly know where to buy almond flour at a more or less decent price, because it is rarely found in supermarkets, and if it is, it is very expensive for very little weight. Therefore, I offer you a more budget-friendly option, so to speak in this case, because almonds, in principle, cannot be classified as cheap products. But you can easily make almond flour at home and it will be cheaper than buying it in the store, that’s for sure!
The main thing when choosing the almonds itself is to make sure of their quality. To do this, it is better to go to the market to a trusted seller and ask, or even better, try. The nuts should be dry, with a sweetish taste (in no case rancid), and also whole, beautiful and of the same size.
So, we buy nuts and make almond flour from them at home!
Ингредиенты
Almonds - 100 g
Рецепт
1. Boil water in a kettle, then pour it into any container, then pour almonds into it. It should be completely covered with water. Leave it in this hot water for two minutes.
2. Then drain this hot water and pour in cold water, you get a contrast shower. This will cool the nuts and it will be more convenient to work with them further.
3. Immediately drain the water and easily peel the skin off each nut with just your fingers. The almonds will literally jump out of the skins, just press them down with two fingers.
4. Leave the peeled almonds on a towel to dry them from the water. But it needs to be given time, not only must it dry on top, but inside it must also become completely dry, but at the moment it is damp, because it has been in water.
There are two options here:
1. The first is to leave the almonds for several hours or even overnight so that they dry naturally.
2. The second is to dry the almonds in the oven at 150 degrees for 10-15 minutes.
I leave it to dry naturally.
5. When the nuts are dry, they need to be lightly fried. Roasted nuts will reveal their aroma and any baked goods with them will be tastier and more aromatic. Just make sure during frying that they just acquire a slightly golden hue, but do not form any scorch marks on them.
6. After roasting, let the almonds cool and you can grind them into flour using a blender. It is better to do this in parts, dividing the nuts into two parts, so they can be chopped more evenly. Grind in pulses of 10 seconds, shaking the blender after each turn on. Three such inclusions will result in evenly ground almond flour. Of course, it will be larger than the usual wheat flour, but that’s how it should be, because this is homemade almond flour.
7. Pour homemade almond flour into any container and use it immediately in any baking or if necessary. If you do not use the flour right away, then store it in a cool place, but not for long, because nuts contain fat, and fat can spoil, and, in general, it is customary to store it in the refrigerator. Therefore, we store the nuts themselves in the refrigerator, and if we made flour from them, we use them immediately or within a week.
8. I baked a delicious almond cake from this flour, but you can see the recipe in the next publication. I highly recommend you try it!
